I work with two different workshops in India. One is a small team of tailors in a rural village in northern India, including mothers working from their family homes and artisans whose workshops have been passed down through generations. By partnering directly with these makers, I'm able to support local craftsmanship and create pieces as ethically and locally as possible. I also work with a second workshop that helps transform vintage saris into beautiful one-of-a-kind wrap skirts.

Because they're cut from a single vintage sari. Once the fabric is used, it's gone. That's also why the sari pieces are final sale, there's nothing to exchange them with.

Yes. Every sari is sourced from flea markets and resale traders in Jaipur. The colors and prints are from the 70s, 80s, 90s, that's the whole point. Tiny imperfections (a soft mark, an irregular weave) are part of the fabric's history, not defects.

Mystery means the exact color placement is a surprise. Your piece shares the palette you see in the photos, but because each one is cut from a single vintage sari, no two are ever identical. We curate the colorway for you, so we can't guarantee a specific print or swap it for another once it's claimed. It's part of the magic.

Most of our pieces are designed as one-size-fits-all, made to comfortably fit a wide range of body types from XS to XL thanks to the adjustable wrap design.

For our wrap skirts specifically, we offer two length options to suit different heights:

• Short length: recommended for 5'0"–5'5"
• Long length: recommended for 5'6" and above

This way, you can choose the fit that feels most natural and comfortable for your body and how you like to wear your skirt.

Our wrap skirts are made to move with you. The adjustable ties let you wear yours a few different ways and dress it up or down, and the two lengths (short and long) suit different heights. Play with it, that's half the fun.

Most items are machine washable. However, our sari wrap collection, made from vintage sari pieces, and lace PJ sets should be hand washed only.

Because each piece is handmade, orders are processed and dispatched within 3 to 5 business days. You'll get a tracking link by email the moment your order ships, give it a day to start updating. If anything looks stuck, email me at valeria@theskirtgirl.com and I'll look into it.

Everything ships directly from the US. Processing takes 3-5 business days. If you need it urgent for a trip, just add a comment when you check out! We ship internationally all over the world. Full details on the Shipping policy.

Yes, we ship worldwide from the US. Duties and import taxes are the buyer's responsibility and are not included in shipping.

Possibly, if you're ordering from outside the US. Any customs duties or import taxes are set by your own country and are the buyer's responsibility, they're not included in your shipping fee. If you're unsure what to expect, your local customs office can give you an estimate.

For most items in our shop, such as our travel skirts and everyday pieces, we're happy to offer exchanges if something isn't quite right.

However, our sari collection, block-printed pieces, and one-of-a-kind handmade bags are finally on sale. Because each of these items is unique and often made from limited or upcycled materials, we're unable to accept returns or exchanges on them.

On our travel skirts, tops, and everyday pieces, yes, we're happy to exchange for a different size or length if something isn't quite right, just email us within 14 days. Our sari wrap collection, block-printed pieces, and one-of-a-kind items are final sale and can't be exchanged, since each is unique and can't be reproduced.

That should never happen, but if it does, we'll make it right. Final sale only covers change of mind, not faults. Email me at valeria@theskirtgirl.com within 7 days of delivery with a photo of the issue and your order number, and we'll sort it out at no cost to you.

Once we receive and inspect your return, we'll issue your refund to the original payment method within 5 to 10 business days. Original shipping isn't refundable, and you'll get an email to confirm once it's processed.

We accept all major credit and debit cards, plus Shop Pay, Apple Pay, and Google Pay, all through Shopify's secure checkout.

Yes! Our digital gift cards come in $25, $50, and $100, are delivered instantly by email, and can be redeemed for anything in the shop at checkout. A lovely gift for the girl who twirls through life.
